TIPS FOR PHOTOGRAPHING PETS:

  • Special consideration for pet of the month will be given to photos that capture the essence of specific holidays, as well as portraits, humor and unusual snapshots.
  • Avoid cluttered backgrounds.
  • Natural light is best.  It is important to give black animals light from all sides to bring out their features and detail.
  • Try to avoid red or white reflective eyes.
  • Try not to look down on your subject.  Photograph your pet on their level.  Sit in the grass, lie on the floor, whatever you need to do!
  • Have favorite treats or toys nearby.  Hold them up to the camera to catch your pet’s attention and interest.

Remember you will need a lot of patience to get that special look.  Photographing your pet can be challenging, but also fun and rewarding for both of you!
